Kidder Township taxpayers will enjoy another year with no township tax increase. Taxes were kept 3.65 mills funding the general budget, plus 2 mills for the fire tax and 1.3 mills for the ambulance and rescue tax.
Earned income tax and real estate transfer taxes remain at 1% each, shared with the school districts. There is a local services tax of $52 per taxpayer. Also in the tax resolution is a $50 fee per amusement device, and amusement taxes of 4%.
During the Dec. 16 supervisors meeting, the township’s 2021 budget was amended to $1,962,383 - up nearly $132,000.
Permit fees for resales, certificates of occupancy, and long-term rentals were increased for 2022.
Township Manager Suzanne Brooks’ contract was approved for 2022 and 2023.
In other business, a 5.6% increase to eligible township retirees was approved on a vote of 4-0-1, with Bruce Berger abstaining. The Richard Henry warehouse project’s sewer planning module was approved to be sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Clean Water. CPA firm Kirk, Summa & Co. will conduct the audit of the township’s 2021 finances.
Berger, as roadmaster, reports that the culverts and drains should arrive during the winter so that the North Lake Drive repaving project can proceed.
Police Chief Matt Kuzma will have extra officers on duty over Christmas and New Year’s weekends. He asks residents to call 911 to report loud music or fireworks.
