Driver identified in Rush Township crash

State Police have identified the victim of Thursday’s fatal crash in Rush Township as Carter Davison, 46, of Tamaqua.

Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Albert Barnes pronounced him dead on scene.

He was wearing a seat belt, police said.

Police say the 2:55 p.m. crash took place on Route 309 at the intersection with E. Main St. as Davison was driving his 2011 Subaru Outback south on Route 309 and Adam Guzman, 33, of Hazleton, who was driving a 2021 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty pickup, was going northbound.

At the intersection, Davison turned left into the northbound lanes and into the path of Guzman, who then hit the passenger side of the Subaru.

Guzman and Johnny Hernandez Jr., 39, of Hazleton, a passenger, were transported by McAdoo EMS to the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Hazleton for care. Conditions were not provided. Both were wearing seat belts, police said.

The northbound lanes of Route 309 were closed for hours while the scene was investigated. Troop L Reconstruction Unit and Forensics Unit was there.

Vehicles were towed from the scene.

Fire personnel from Hometown, McAdoo, and Tamaqua responded.
