Icy conditions in some areas have caused school delays and closures. They include:

Panther Valley: 2-hour delay

Jim Thorpe: Closed, all transportation canceled

Tamaqua: 2-hour delay, modified kindergarten

Some Catholic schools also made announcements regarding operation for today.

Marian Catholic: will be opening at regular time this morning. Students should follow their local school district as to what time to arrive to Marian. The only exception to this is that the PALMERTON/LEHIGHTON bus students will be operating on a two hour delay, per the Kistler Bus. Student drivers, please take your time in coming to Marian.

St. Jerome: will operate on a normal schedule since some of our students are already on buses on their way to school. You can follow your home district schedule or you can bring your child to school at normal time.

In addition, icy road conditions have been observed.

There was a crash along Route 309 at the intersection of Route 443 in West Penn Township at 5 a.m. due to ice.
