A Lehighton man is facing driving under the influence charges after a one-vehicle crash that happened at 1:23 a.m. Dec. 5 on the Blue Mountain Road in Washington Township.

State police at the Bethlehem barracks said Jonathan M. Skvoretz, 25, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet CK1500 east in the area of Laurel Lane when the vehicle traveled into the opposing lane and onto the northern shoulder of the road, striking a ditch.

The vehicle then re-entered the roadway, skidding uncontrollably across both lanes of Mountain Road, during which time it began rotating clockwise until it left the roadway, traveling onto the southern shoulder of the road and striking a mailbox. The vehicle continued to travel east and struck two trees before coming to rest.
