Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person or in parking lot by turning radio station to 104.3FM or Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise

Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. is men’s Bible study

Upcoming events:

Dec. 19 is the Kids Sunday School Christmas Program at 9:45 a.m. The Kids Christmas Party will be at 5:30 p.m. and the Youth Group Christmas Party will be at 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 24 the traditional Christmas candlelight worship will be at 5 p.m. and the contemporary Christmas candlelight worship will be at 7 p.m.

New Year’s Day dinner

A free community New Year’s Day dinner will be served at Faith Alive Church, Bowmanstown, on Jan 1. Noon, 1 and 2 p.m. are the three seatings for a pork and sauerkraut dinner. Limited seating for each dinner, so the public is asked to RSVP if attending. Call the church office at 610-852-2805 to reserve a seat.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville will hold Sunday service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. You can also remain in your vehicle and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 FM or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after it has concluded. Supply Pastor Don Quayle will lead the worship service.

The JUCC Quilt & Crafts Group will meet Dec. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Dec. 19 will be a Christmas party for the children and youth. The party will be during the 10 a.m. service.

Two Christmas Eve services are planned for this year, one at 5 p.m. in the church grove (weather permitting), and at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold Christmas Eve services at 7 p.m. Service will be held both inside and outside upon personal preference. Those who remain outside can listen on their car radio. For those who come inside, face masks are preferred.

Meat pie sale

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, is holding a meat pie sale. There is a choice of chicken, pork or chicken/pork mixed. There is also beef available at a slightly higher cost. Orders are due by Dec. 19. To order, call 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403.

Pick up at the church Jan. 17 or 18 at noon. When ordering, please specify what date you want to pick up your order.

Holy Trinity Lutheran

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold worship service on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. If you plan to attend, call the church office at 610-826-2525. If you are unable to attend in person, you may join on Zoom.

Bible study is held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Adult Education Room.

Christmas Eve service with communion will be at 7 p.m.

Self-care raffle

The self-care raffle for Healing During the Holidays has started at the Palmerton Area Library. Stop by to check out these wonderful items and purchase tickets. It includes a selection of items and gift cards to help you relax and rejuvenate during the holidays. The drawing will be Dec. 18. All proceeds benefit the library.

Christmas Eve at Penn’s Peak

Blue Mountain Community Church is hosting Christmas Eve candlelight service, “Life with Jesus,” at Penn’s Peak on Dec. 24, 6-7:15 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for pre-service fun, refreshments and photo op. No charge or reservation is needed. Everyone is welcome.

Fund drive

Wendy Borger of Blue Bomber Notary, 210 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is hosting a fund drive for Bev (Bedrock Notary), her daughter Lisa and grandson Robby on Dec. 19 at the shop. Wendy will be there on Dec. 19 from noon to 3 p.m. for donations and cards for them. Bev can use gas cards for traveling to take Lisa to the cancer center. She loves Dunkin’ and Robby loves McDonald’s. If you just want to drop off a card, that would be great. If you can’t make it that day, call 610-824-2583 to drop off.

Food pantry

This is a reminder that the CACPAC sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please note that this is a week earlier than usual due to the holiday.

Coat drive

Kids for the Community is hosting its second annual Warmth for Winter Coat drive. You can drop off your gently used weatherized coats, gloves, scarves, hats, on the porch of 630 Franklin Ave. Please no leather or wool.

Breakfast buffet

An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will be held Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include eggs to order, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, toast, cereal, hash, ham, bacon, sausage, OJ, coffee, tea and milk.

You will also have a special guest, Santa Claus! So bring the family, the camera and your appetites. Breakfast is open to the public.

BWC

Bethany Wesleyan Church, 457 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, will have Sunday services at 9 and 10:30 a.m.

During the 10:30 a.m. service there will be a Christmas party for ages 3 to fifth grade. A Christmas story, prizes, snacks, games and crafts are just some of the things children will get to do. There will also be a Christmas outfit contest. Come in your Christmas jammies, ugly sweater or dressed as a Christmas tree, or in your favorite Christmas outfit. A prize to the best outfit will be awarded.

Ugly sweater party

Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Co., 259 Lime St, Bowmanstown will host an open to the public Ugly Sweater Christmas Party on Dec. 18, beginning at 9 p.m.
