Santa visits Bowmanstown fire co. for Winter Festival

Santa Claus visited the Bowmanstown Fire Company at the first Winter Festival hosted by the Bowmanstown Family Activities Committee, a relatively new group in the borough.

Brandy Kresge is the co-founder and vendor coordinator for committee.

“This whole things started with moms wanting to do things for the kids in the community,” Kresge explained.

“We started last year; and, especially with COVID and many things were shut down, we held events outdoors for the kids, as safe as we could.”

The Winter Festival included a basket auction, bake sale, a visit from Santa Claus and free crafts for the kids.

“That’s important,” Kresge added. “We always want to make sure the crafts and activities we hold for the kids are free. That’s one of the main reasons we do this.”

The committee will hold a Spring Festival on May 14, 2022, at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club.

So far, it will include agricultural type events for kids, vendors, basket raffle, and more things still being planned.

The committee also plans to hold a Fall Festival, and a “Water War” program at the Bowmanstown Fire Company, which would feature water-related activities.

“In the future, we would like to help with other groups, maybe helping with toy drives or food drives.

“We have worked with kids in Palmerton, helped with the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club and the Bowmanstown Fire Company. Part of the proceeds of our Winter Festival will go to the fire company.”

The group is on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/BowmanstownFamilyActivitiesCommittee, or you can email them at eventsbmac@gmail.com.
