A Tamaqua man waived his right to a preliminary hearing on simple assault and harassment charges.

Charges against Ryan Thorne, 45, will now head to the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas. A preliminary hearing was held Nov. 16 in Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer’s courtroom.

Police charged him with the offenses from a Sept. 16 incident where a woman said her soon to be ex-husband punched her in the face and threw her to the ground, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Marks were visible on the inside of her lip where she was hit by Thorne, documents state.

Thorne was then arrested.
