Nesquehoning man faces DUI charge after crash

Robert Skodacek, 35, of the 400 block of East Railroad Street, Nesquehoning, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, careless driving and disregard for traffic lane.

Police said on Nov. 24, at 12:29 a.m. they were dispatched to the area of 307 Center St. (Route 309) for a crash involving a tractor-trailer and car.

On scene, police found a tractor-trailer facing south in the southbound lane and a silver Honda Accord facing north in the southbound lane.

The truck driver reported he was southbound when the Honda entered his lane of travel and collided into the front bumper his tractor. Police noted minor damage to the truck but severe damage to the front of the Honda.

The driver of the Honda was identified as Skodacek. He told officers he apparently fell asleep after being up all night. He said he was a location in Lehighton prior to the crash.

He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI. After processing Skodacek was released to the custody of a friend.
