The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced the menu for the week of Dec. 13-17 is:

Monday: No meal

Tuesday: Stuffed pepper soup, breaded fish sandwich, broccoli slaw, cookie or chicken Caesar salad

Wednesday: Stuffed cabbage, buttered noodles, cauliflower and peas, fruited yogurt or beef and cheddar sandwich

Thursday: Garlic chicken, red potatoes, lemon broccoli, pudding or antipasto salad

Friday: Stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, apple pie

The center also announced upcoming events:

Saran Wrap Ball Game on Dec. 10 at 11 a.m.

Games on Dec. 13 at 10 a.m.; Birthday Bingo on Dec. 14 at 10:45 a.m.; Horseracing on Dec. 15 at 11 a.m.; Balloon Tennis on Dec. 16 at 11 a.m.; Christmas Party on Dec. 17 at 10 a.m.

Pool, cards, games and socialization available every day. New members always welcome.

Nesquehoning

Hometown Hero banners

The Nesquehoning Veterans Banner program is now open for 2022.

If you would like to purchase a banner, applications are available at the VFW Post Home at 300 E. Center St.

Also if you purchased a banner in 2019, renewal applications were mailed to the sponsor of the banner and the retired banner may be picked up at the post home.

The deadline to purchase a new banner or renewal is Jan. 2, 2022.

If you have any questions, call the post home at 570-669-9201 after 1 p.m. or Mary Arieta at 570-669-9350.

VFW Christmas party

The Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 Christmas party will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 18. All members are invited.

There will be free food, drink specials and a band. Ugly Christmas sweaters are encouraged.

Summit Hill

Legion Christmas party

American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Christmas party for children of the community on Saturday.

The doors will open at noon, after which time the children will be treated to a hot dog and soda while they await the arrival of Santa Claus.

He is expected to arrive at the post home at 1 p.m. and will greet the children, giving each of them a gift from the Legion. The event will run through 3 p.m.

Lansford

Tax collection

Terrance P McCall, Lansford Borough tax collector, wants to remind all taxpayers that current year bills are due on or before Dec. 31.

All borough, county and school (real estate and personal) are due.

All tax bills are in the penalty.
