Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person or in the parking lot by turning to radio station 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise.

Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. is men’s Bible study.

Upcoming events:

Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. is the Church Christmas Party with music by Lost & Found and at 8 p.m. there will be a tree lighting outside with caroling. Light refreshments will be served.

Dec. 7 from 2-3:30 p.m. is prayer shawl ministry.

Dec. 12 is Confirmation Sunday during both services and a reception at 9:45 a.m.

Dec. 12 will be the Christmas Cantata at 3 p.m. All are welcome to come hear the beautiful songs and music from “The Thrill of Hope.”

Dec. 19 is the Kids Sunday School Christmas Program at 9:45 a.m. The Kids Christmas Party will be at 5:30 p.m. and the Youth Group Christmas Party will be at 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 24 the traditional Christmas candlelight worship will be at 5 p.m. and the contemporary Christmas candlelight worship will be at 7 p.m.

Toys for kids drive

A Toy Drive Collection Box is located at Family Dollar in Palmerton for the CACPAC sponsored Christmas Toys for Kids Drive. The group will be accepting unopened new toys (no stuffed toys or animals). Monetary donations can be mailed to CACPAC c/o Bonnie Green, P.O. Box 213, Aquashicola, PA 18071. Information call Bonnie at 610-349-0954.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold Sunday service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. You can also remain in your vehicle and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 FM or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after it has concluded. Supply Pastor Don Quayle will lead the worship service.

The JUCC Quilt & Crafts Group will meet Dec. 9 and 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Palmerton cookbook

Plans are in the works to create a Palmerton cookbook. If you are interested in submitting your favorite recipe or two, please send them to Denise Andrews, 108 Ave. A, Palmerton, PA 18071, or email to Jobittn@hotmail.com. She will be accepting recipes until Jan. 1 or later if needed.

Holiday Open House

The Carbon Model Railroad Society will hold its Holiday Open House at 529 Ore St., Bowmanstown on Dec. 2 and 9 and on Jan. 6 from 7-9 p.m. It will also be open on Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 4 and 5, 11 and 12, and on Jan. 8 and 9 from 1-4 p.m.

The main HO scale display is in various stages of completion and is an excellent learning tool. The club’s portable HO and N displays will also be in operation and there will be a model railroad yard sale.

PHS Drama Club

The Palmerton Area Drama Club will present “Clue” on stage Dec. 2, 3 and 4 in the Palmerton Area High School Auditorium. Doors open at 6 p.m. and curtain is at 7 p.m.

Ecumenical church service

The Palmerton Historical Society and CACPAC will be holding their annual Ecumenical Church Service on Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. in the Little White Church, 911 Third St., Palmerton.

The message will be delivered by Pastor Laura Kichline from Bethany Wesleyan Church of Palmerton. Music selections will be by Brooke Baker and Brandon Arbaca. Everyone is invited to attend. Offering will be donated to CACPAC.

Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast will be served on Dec. 5 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Parryville Fire Co. No. 2, 359 Main St., Parryville. Platter choices include pancakes, French toast, eggs any style, SOS, Fire House Mess, western omelet, ham and cheese omelet. Choices of meats are ham, sausage, scrapple or bacon. Includes home fries, juice and coffee. They have large and small platters.

A special guest, Santa Claus, will be there to visit with the children.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Dec. 6 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting or crocheting of all skill levels.

Quilt Guild

The Sew What Quilt Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Friday, Dec. 3 at 10:30 a.m. New members and visitors are always welcome.

Blue Mountain Fiber Guild

The Blue Mountain Fiber Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. The group explores all things related to fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, etc. Come check it out.

Block Shoot

Block shoots and meat raffles will be held at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food and drinks are included with ticket purchase. This event is open to the public and smoke-free. Doors open at 11 a.m., shoots start at noon.

Cornhole tournament

A cornhole tournament will be held Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Palmerton Sokol Hall, 452 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton. Team registration will be 11 a.m. to noon. Guarantee six games.

Christmas in the Park

Christmas in the Palmerton Borough Park, sponsored by the Palmerton Holiday Lighting Committee, will be held this Saturday beginning at noon with the opening ceremony. The invocation will be by the UVO Color Guard. Remarks by Mayor William Gallagher. Over 25 food and craft vendors will be open.

At 12:15 p.m. the S.S. Palmer Elementary School Chorus and the Bell Choir of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will perform.

From 1 to 3 p.m. Santa will greet all children in the bandstand. (Children must be in line by 2:30 to see Santa). Goodie bags for all children; chances on prizes.

1:15 to 4 p.m. will have horse drawn wagon rides.

3:30 to 4:45 p.m., holiday favorites performed by “Off the Charts Music School Elves.”

4:45 p.m. Honoring of PHS Sports Teams.

5 p.m. will be the lighting of 155 Christmas trees.

Extending the day’s activities will be the CACPAC Christmas Carol Singalong from 5 to 6 p.m.

Donations of new unwrapped toys will be accepted for the CACPAC Toys for Kids Drive. Nonperishable food items will be collected for the CACPAC Food Pantry. Place all donations in the bandstand.

The rain date for the event is Dec. 5.

Scavenger Hunt

A Snowman Scavenger Hunt is ongoing at the Palmerton Area Library now through Dec. 20 and is open to all ages. Snowman bookmarks are hiding in the shelves around the library. When you find one, go to the front desk with the title of the book. If you are correct, your name will be entered in a prize drawing. For information, please ask at the library desk.
