Lehighton Band to hold in-person annual Christmas concert

The Lehighton Band, in its 156th year of providing quality music to Lehighton and surrounding communities, will present its annual Christmas concert.

The band will present the in-person concert at 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Lehighton Boys’ and Girls’ band hall, Sixth and Cypress streets, Lehighton.

Tickets are $5, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Boys’ and Girls’ Band.

The concert will open with a “A Christmas Spectacular” by Chris Sharp, followed by the classic “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson.

“Here We Come A’Wassailing” will be the next selection, followed by Clare Grundman’s “3 Songs for Christmas.”

The band will continue with a song made famous by Amy Grant titled “Breath of Heaven.”

The band will then be traveling “Home for Christmas” before performing “And the Herald Angels Sang.”

“Mary Did You Know” has been recorded by many different artists over the years. The band will perform an arrangement of this song as performed by the popular quintet Pentatonix. Leroy Anderson will resurface once again with the band playing “Sleigh Ride.”

“Angels in the Bleak Midwinter” is a mash-up Christmas songs including “In the Bleak Midwinter” as well as “Angels We Have Heard on High” arranged by Larry Clark. A favorite of both the band and its audiences, the band will perform “All I Want for Christmas is You.”

The band will wind things down with “Silent Night” arranged by James Swearingen, closing the concert with a rendition of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Tickets can be purchased from any Lehighton Band or Boys’ and Girls’ band members, or at Carbon County Music and More, Second Street in Lehighton.

Tickets will be available at the door as seating permits, but advance purchase is recommended.
