PPL continues to rebuild the electrical transmission line

PPL is currently rebuilding the electrical transmission line in the area.

The project began in May and is expected to be completed by summer 2022, according to Jane George, regional affairs director for PPL Electric Utilities.

“The project is necessary to improve the electric service in this region and is part of our ongoing efforts to be among the most reliable electric companies in the nation,” George said.

“The existing transmission line support structures, which consist of wood poles and lattice towers, will be replaced with taller and thicker steel poles designed to weather to a dark-brown protective coating.”

George noted that the new poles will be stronger and more resilient to wind and strong storms.

She said PPL will install new lines, made of more resilient materials which provides better performance during storms.

“PPL Electric Utilities has made significant investments to improve reliability for our customers,” George said. “As a result, we’ve decreased outages by 30% since 2011 and reduced transmission outages by 74% since 2013.”
