Santa Claus arrives in Lansford after parade

Lansford held a parade Saturday and the guest star was Santa.

The parade started at the No. 9 mine, went to West Ridge Street, to the townhouses, Pardee Street, East Bertsch Street, Cortright Street and to West Abbott before ending at Kennedy Park for the tree lighting.

The American Fire Co. No. 1, Lansford Alive, the events committee, and Lansford Police Department were seen in the parade.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived just in time for the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. in Kennedy Park. They were joined by the Panther Valley High School Band providing Christmas songs.

As Santa arrived down the street, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” could be heard from a half block away.

Children lined up along the street to wave. Excitement and giggles could be heard as Santa and Mrs. Claus passed by.

Virginia Rang of Lansford said her children have been “very excited about this event.”

Refreshments such as hot dogs could be smelled through the park. Gift bags were available for the kids.

After Santa arrived, he made his way, ho-hoing all the way to the gazebo for photos with the children.

Smiling children lined up with their families for their turn with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
