4 from NY arrested after chase through Monroe

Four New York state residents were arrested following a high-speed chase in Monroe County last week.

State police at Stroudsburg said at 12:45 a.m. Nov. 18 Pocono Mountain Regional police were in pursuit of a gray Chrysler 300 bearing New Jersey temporary registration plate in Mount Pocono. Pocono police lost sight of the car along Route 611 in Pocono Township and soon after terminated the pursuit.

Troopers were at a separate incident along Route 611 and encountered the fleeing vehicle.

Troopers pursued the vehicle on Route 611 and then onto Interstate 80 eastbound. During the pursuit the fleeing vehicle struck a marked state police cruiser.

Troopers were able to use spike strips near mile marker 305 and the vehicle became fully disabled at Exit 309.

Taken into custody were Katelyn Santos, 19, Jaylene Santos, 21, Shawn Batista, 21, and Daniel Flores, 18, all of Bronx. Charges include driving under the influence, fleeing and attempting to elude police and drug-related offenses.

Assisting troopers were police from Pocono Regional, Stroud Regional, Pocono Township and East Stroudsburg University. No one was reported injured in the incident.
