State police in Schuylkill report on incidents

State police at Frackville reported on the following cases in Schuylkill County locations.

• On Oct. 30 at 6:30 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence along West Penn Pike (Route 309) in West Penn Township. A 59-year-old man from New Ringgold told troopers an unknown woman was walking about on the lawn of his property wearing one of his T-shirts. The woman had entered the victim’s home and changed out of her wet clothing from being outside earlier in the morning. Prior to entry, the woman had been yelling, creating a disturbance along the road in front of a neighbor’s house.

Heather Smith, 45, of Tamaqua, was charged with burglary, theft and disorderly conduct. She was arraigned by on-call District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville, unable to post $25,000 straight cash bail. The investigation is continuing.

• On Nov. 5 at 6:43 p.m., troopers responded to the Walmart store, 35 Plaza Drive, in Rush Township, for a retail theft report. Troopers learned that Terri Kates, 42, of Tamaqua, went to a self-checkout area and began to “ticket swap” items of lesser value for items of greater value. Store loss prevention employees detained Kates at the store until troopers arrived.

This was a third offense by Kates, which makes it a felony 3 offense. She was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, and released on unsecured bail.

Schuylkill Haven

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following charges:

• On Nov. 4 at 12:58 p.m., troopers received multiple calls at their barracks concerning an erratic driver whose vehicle just struck two mailboxes along Long Run Road in Wayne Township. Troopers responded and located the driver at Just Your Style Salon. She was identified as Amy Kirkpatrick, 51, of Schuylkill Haven, and was placed under arrest for DUI. Damages to property was estimated at $100.

• On Nov. 7 at 11:53 a.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop along Route 61 at West Market Street in North Manheim Township. The driver, Jeremy Schnerring, 38, of Orwigsburg, was found to be driving under the influence and placed under arrest.

• A Schuylkill County driver is facing a driving under the influence charge following an incident on Nov. 22 at 10:58 p.m. Troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo at Wilder Street and Panther Valley Road in North Manheim Township, for a traffic violation. The driver, Bryan Harlor, 43, of Mahanoy City, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and placed under arrest.
