Carbon officials certify vote

Carbon County officials have certified the votes from the November election on Wednesday.

During a brief county election board meeting, which was convened at 9:15 a.m. and then recessed until 11:30 a.m., the board heard an update regarding the recount for the office of the judge of commonwealth court of Pennsylvania. There was a statewide mandatory recount of the votes following the election.

Lisa Dart, county elections director, said the recount found a number difference of five votes from the previous total, which she attributed to “human error.”

“I don’t know whether it was at the polling place or at the counts,” she said, adding that the differences happened at various precincts and not just one or two.

The board then voted 2-0 to certify the vote and submit the results to the state, which were done Wednesday afternoon. Commissioner Chris Lukasevich was not present.
