Write-ins fall short in Pleasant Valley

A community challenger garnered nearly 2,000 votes for Pleasant Valley School Board director but fell short of his bid for the seat.

Lawrence Kahn started a write-in campaign in October and grabbed 1,834 votes, but that wasn’t enough to knock out Diane M. Serfass, who ran on both tickets, with 2,792 votes.

The top vote-getter was Michael Galler, who ran on the Republican ticket. He had 3,381 votes.

Others who made the board are Melanie Zipp, with 2,852 votes, and incumbent Laura Jecker, who had 2,825 votes. Both candidates were cross-filed.

Incumbent Donna Yozwiak, current board president, lost her bid for re-election. She had 2,043 votes.

Write-in Peter DeSanto had 88.
