Theft suspect left phone, wallet in shopping cart

Megan Hannah Hill, 31, of 87 Skyline Drive, Tamaqua, has been charged with retail theft, criminal attempt - retail theft and receiving stolen property.

On Oct. 28 at 3:10 p.m. police were dispatched to Boyer’s Food Market, located along Cedar Street, for a retail theft report. An employee of the store said the suspect fled the store with items no paid for and when an attempt was made to stop her she fled in a gray Mazda.

The suspect’s phone and wallet were left in a shopping cart.

About 15 minutes later Hill returned to the store to retrieve her phone. Police were called and arrived on scene and took Hill into custody. The value of the items taken was set at $196.26. Hill has three prior convictions of retail theft. She was arraigned before a district judge and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. She was also told not to enter Boyer’s again.
