Tamaqua board sets reorganization for Dec. 7

Tuesday’s Tamaqua Area School Board meeting marked Dr. Thomas Rottet’s last meeting as a member of the board.

“Tom has been a great addition and everyone up here has some expertise that they add to the board,” said Larry Wittig, school board president.

Rottet spent 20 years on the school board.

“His certainly, in terms of athletics and as a medical professional was very valuable for the board,” Wittig added.

The board scheduled its reorganization meeting for Dec. 7 at 7 p.m., when newcomer Nancy Jones is set to take a seat in Rottet’s place.

“He has done a great deal of great work for the school district,” said Ray Kinder, Tamaqua superintendent.

“We appreciate that. As he knows, this is a volunteer position which takes a tremendous amount of time and energy, and we appreciate that as administrators, for your support over the years,” Kinder added at Tuesday’s meeting.
