November 22, 1980 - Led by Dennis Hartranft, Lehighton cruises to a 24-6 victory over Notre Dame to clinch the Centennial League football title. Hartranft carries 23 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns to give head coach Jim Wentz a victory in his final game in charge of the Indians. After a blocked punt by Blaine House late in the first half, Hartranft snaps a scoreless tie when he reaches the end zone on a 10-yard run. In the third frame, Lehighton doubles its lead following a sack and fumble recovery by Dean Steigerwalt. Barry Fisher follows with a 5-yard TD scamper. Hartranft clinches the contest in the fourth period when he breaks free for a 53-yard tally.
