November 19, 1994 - The Times News sports department announces its players of the year for the fall sports season, with Northwestern leading the way with four of its athletes. The Tigers’ Jesse Sechler earns Soccer Player of the Year after scoring 34 goals and leading his team to a 16-4-2 record. Becky George scores 29 goals to cop the field hockey award, while Rachel Leber places third at districts and 40th at states to capture the Girls Cross Country award. Ryan Shaughnessy is named co-golfer along with Palmerton’s Brendon Weaver. Other winners include Northern Lehigh’s Tim Pfluger (boys cross country) and Marian’s Brianne Homyak (volleyball).
