Jim Thorpe man killed in crash

A Carbon County driver was killed in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 9:36 a.m. on Monday along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. State police at Fern Ridge released details of the crash today.

The victim was identified as Barry K. Frohnheiser Jr., 56, of Jim Thorpe, driving a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado truck.

Troopers said Frohnheiser was southbound when his vehicle crossed over the double yellow line and across the northbound lane. It is believed, troopers said, that the truck went down a slight embankment and began to overturn. As this occurred Frohnheiser was ejected through the front passenger side window. He was later located in very thick and dense rhododendron and mountain laurel, about 20 feet from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A memorial service will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Mauch Chunk Road and Gun Club, Jim Thorpe.

His obituary appeared in Thursday’s edition of the Times News.
