Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. Worship in person or in parking lot by turning radio station to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live. Nov. 28 Advent begins, “The Light of Christmas.”

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise. Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. is men’s Bible study.

Upcoming events: Nov. 20 at 4 p.m., hay ride, camp fire, hot dog roast, and devotional at Walker’s Tree Farm; Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. Thanksgiving Eve Worship; Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. Decorating the church for Christmas

Faith Alive’s Mission for November: The Benevolence Fund, it’s designated to meet emergency needs that arise within our church family and the community.

Micah’s Backpack Program and our ABC Food Pantry are always accepting food donations, check the church website for the needed grocery items.

Handmade items auction

A handmade items auction to benefit the Palmerton Area Library is ongoing now through Nov. 24. Tickets are available for purchase at the library. Winners will be contacted Nov. 29. For information call the library at 610-826-3424.

Lions Club bingo

The Palmerton Lions Club hosts bingo every Friday night at the Palmerton Sokol Hall, 452 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton. Doors open at 4 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. Various packages and games are available. Food is also available for purchase. Call 610-360-5523 for information.

Food pantry

A reminder the CACPAC sponsored Palmerton food pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please note this is one week earlier than usual due to the holiday.

Kids for the Community

The Kids for the Community will hold a basket raffle during the Christmas in the Park event on Dec. 4. The group will be accepting donations of baskets or certificates starting next week. If anyone can donate a basket, please reach out so arrangements can be made for drop-off/pickup. Please call Jennifer at 610-393-0705 for information.

Toys for kids

A toy drive collection box is located at Family Dollar in Palmerton for the CACPAC sponsored Toys for Kids Drive. Will be accepting unopened new toys (no stuffed toys or animals). Monetary donations can be mailed to CACPAC c/o Bonnie Green, P.O. Box 213, Aquashicola, PA 18071. For information, call Bonnie at 610-349-0954.

Thanksgiving meal

A free community Thanksgiving meal will be served at Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton on Nov. 24. Eat in is 5-7 p.m. Curbside available 6-7 p.m. only. Call 610-826-2201 during this hour to place curbside orders. No deliveries, or reservations. No early curbside orders will be taken. All are invited.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include eggs to order, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, toast, cereal, hash, ham, bacon, sausage, OJ, coffee, tea and milk. All are welcome.

Bingo

A cash bingo will be held at the Towamensing Fire Company, Route 209, Interchange Road, Trachsville, on Tuesday and continuing every Tuesday. Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo will start at 6:30 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit the fire company. For information, call 610-657-4903.

Christmas in the Park

Christmas in the Park will be held Dec. 4, 1 to 6 p.m. The rain date is Dec. 5. There will be music, carriage rides, and over 25 food and craft vendors. At 5 p.m. will be the lighting of 155 Christmas trees. There will be collecting toys and canned goods for the community. In conjunction with Christmas in the park, Santa will visit with the children from 1 to 3 p.m. in the park bandstand.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold Sunday service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. Supply Pastor, Don Quayle, will lead the worship service. If you would like to supply a baked item or snack for the Sunday refreshment table please sign the sign-up sheet in the back of the sanctuary.

Friday from 1-3 p.m. will be preparing supplies for filling.

Saturday, at 8 a.m. make filling.

The annual congregational meeting will be held Nov. 28 at 9:30 a.m. before worship service.

Annual bake sale

Support the girls of Girl Scout Troop and let them take care of your holiday baking. Their bake sale will be held at Country Harvest on Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Palmerton Cookbook

Plans are in the works to create a Palmerton Cookbook. If you are interested in submitting your favorite recipe or two, please send them to Denise Andrews, 108 Ave. A, Palmerton, PA 18071 or email to Jobittn@hotmail.com. She will be accepting recipes until Jan. 1 or later if needed.
