State police release details on Monroe crashes

State police reported on the following crashes in Monroe County:

• A hit-and-run crash was reported at 12:33 p.m. on Oct. 1 along Interstate 80 in Pocono Township. State police at Stroudsburg said Christina A. Torres, 38, of Effort, was driving a 2020 Hyundai Venue eastbound when another driver attempted to go around her. While attempting to go around Torres’ vehicle, the other vehicle struck the Venue on the right passenger side. The other driver then fled the scene. Torres and her passenger, Angelia R. Negron, 18, of Effort, were not injured. Damages were minor to the Venue.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 7:10 a.m. on Nov. 12 along Interstate 80 in Stroud Township. State police at Stroudsburg said Shanta Pierson-Clemmons, 27, of Mount Pocono, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound in the lest lane. Due to water on the roadway the Equinox hydroplaned, causing her to lose control. The vehicle spun 180 degrees multiple times before striking the guide rail on the right berm of the road.

Pierson-Clemmons was not injured but the vehicle was towed.

• No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:58 p.m. on Nov. 8 along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Danny C. Demaio, 45, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2000 Jeep Wrangler eastbound when the vehicle left the roadway on the south side and hit a stone wall. Troopers said the vehicle was driven from the scene.
