State police at Frackville report on area crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes in Schuylkill County:

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 7:54 a.m. on Nov. 14 along Route 443 (Summer Mountain Road), at the intersection with Sleepy Hollow Road, in East Brunswick Township. Troopers said Collen A. Margavage, 70, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 2015 Toyota Tacoma, was at the intersection on Sleepy Hollow Road and proceeded onto Route 443 without clearance and struck a 2001 Toyota Echo driven by Mark G. Conville, 46, of Tamaqua.

Margavage was taken to St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg. Conville was not injured.

Both vehicles were towed.

Margavage was cited for a stop sign violation.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported on Nov. 8 at 12:36 p.m. in Butler Township. Troopers said Sara B. Cunningham, 44, of Campbell Hall, New York, was driving a 2018 BMW southbound in the left lane Interstate 81 when Matthew M. Zigarski, 30, of Kulpmont, Northumberland County, driving a 2014 Jeep Compass, was traveling behind Cunningham and speeding when his vehicle crashed into the rear of the BMW. The Jeep was towed.

Zigarski was injured and taken to a hospital, troopers said, while Cunningham was not injured.

Zigarski was cited for following too closely. • A second crash on I-81 occurred on Oct. 22 at 6:48 p.m. in New Castle Township. Troopers said Kenneth Wissman, 61, of Monticello, New York, was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion southbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. Wissman’s vehicle struck the deer. Wissman was not injured but his vehicle was towed.

• A hit-and-run crash was reported on Oct. 20 at 1:37 p.m. in a parking lot of the farmers market located off Mahanoy Avenue in Rush Township. A parked 2021 Chevrolet Equinox had damage to the rear bumper area caused by another vehicle leaving a parking space. The driver did not stop. Troopers declined to identify the owner of the Equinox.
