Lehighton police continue to investigate a drive-by BB gun shooting incident that took place Saturday night in the borough.

Borough police Chief Brian Biechy confirmed that the incident occurred at 7:27 p.m. in the area of Seventh and Mahoning streets.

“We did have an adult male that was shot in the back with a BB gun,” Biechy said. “He was treated and released.”

Biechy said there were several other BB gun related incidents in the area on Saturday.

He said the matter is currently under investigation.

“At this point there really is nothing else to release,” Biechy said.

A BB gun shooting incident also occurred at a home that night in neighboring Franklin Township.

Patrolman Frank Buonaiuto said the home was in the canal area section of the township.

Buonaiuto said there were no injuries.
