Fire at Schuylkill barn ruled arson

A fire that damaged a portion of a barn in Schuylkill County on Friday has been ruled arson.

State police fire marshal Trooper Joseph Burns, said a fire at 337 Birds Hill Road in Washington Township, was intentionally set. Destroyed in the fire were bales of hay. Two horses were housed in the barn but were not in barn at the time of the fire, which was reported at 7:02 a.m.

No other livestock or animals were in the barn.

Police said damage was estimated to be more than $10,000.
