Pastor receives Bowmanstown Neighbor of the Month award

He’s the epitome of faith, family and fellowship, and has ingratiated himself to the Bowmanstown community and surrounding areas.

Mayor Zach Snyder announced at Tuesday’s borough council meeting that Pastor Rob Timlin Sr. has been selected as the borough’s Neighbor of the Month.

As head of Faith Alive Church, Palmerton, Timlin, of Lower Towamensing Township, wasted no time getting involved in the community, according to Snyder.

A pastor since 1988, Timlin came to Faith Alive in 2017.

“In talking with him, I told him that I distinctly remember meeting him for the first time in 2017,” Snyder said. “Shellee, the kids, and I were visiting Neal and Brenda on their front porch when Pastor Rob walked across the street, introduced himself, made small talk, and told us a little about his church. His positive attitude and his love for his community was evident then, but has only grown since.”

Snyder said he has had many positive interactions with Timlin ever since Snyder became mayor in 2018.

“Pastor Rob has always actively reached out to me to see where he and the church can pitch in, and who they can pray for,” he said. “From National Day of Prayer services, to Community Worship services, to community celebration of our independence, to honoring our fire company, there is no shortage of ways that Pastor Rob seeks to make our community a better place.”

Snyder said Timlin and his wife, Debbie, live in Meadowcrest and raised three children - Rob Jr. Ryan, and Christy - who are now walking similar paths of service.

“Pastor Rob has, and continues to live The Great Commandment,” he said. “Regardless where your faith has you, we are all better off having the Timlins in our community.”

Timlin, who was joined by his wife, Debbie, said it was his pleasure to accept the award.

“We really enjoy the community,” Timlin said.
