A boost for downtown Lehighton

There’s a new Main Street manager in Lehighton.

Her name is Bambi Elsasser, and her objective is to see the borough’s downtown area continue to flourish.

The Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corp. announced earlier this month that the Lehighton Downtown Initiative and the Lehighton Main Street Steering Committee have come together to form the Lehighton Downtown Partnership and operate under the umbrella of the CCEDC.

In order to better serve the community, the CCEDC hired Elsasser as the new Lehighton Main Street Manager.

For more information, follow the Lehighton Downtown Partnership on Facebook at Lehighton Downtown Partnership, or email Elsasser at bambie@carboncountychamber.org.

Dream job come true

Elsasser will serve as the staff person responsible for coordinating all program activities and volunteers, and to create activities in the borough that assist with the revitalization and economic development of the downtown.

All the current events and activities that the LDI has created in the past including RocktoberFest, Saturday Farmers Markets and Wine on the River will continue to evolve and grow, and the new group is excited to be able to add to those events to enhance the vitality of the borough.

A lifelong resident and graduate of Lehighton Area School District, Elsasser said she began her position on Sept. 13.

“It’s going very great,” Elsasser said. “The support of the chamber is really going to help; there’s going to be so many advertising opportunities.”

Elsasser explained why she believes she’s the ideal fit for the position.

“I do very well with marketing through my past experiences with the LDI, getting people out having fun,” she said.

Elsasser described her objectives in her new capacity.

“I’m hoping to get new businesses into town, and help businesses into town,” she said. “I want to help them with starting up a business; it’s a great time to do it.”

Elsasser said the borough has always occupied a special place in her heart.

“I have fond memories of downtown Lehighton,” she said. “It’s a passion of mine.”
