Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person or in parking lot by turning radio station to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live. Nov. 28 Advent begins, “The Light of Christmas.”

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise. Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. is men’s Bible study.

Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m., Second Saturdays, Game Night; Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., Finance Committee Meeting - planning budget for 2022; Nov. 20 at 4 p.m., hay ride, camp fire, hot dog roast, and devotional at Walker’s Tree Farm - sign up by Nov. 17 at church; Nov. 24 at 7 p.m., Thanksgiving Eve worship; Nov. 27 at 9 a.m., decorating the church for Christmas

Faith Alive’s Mission for November: The Benevolence Fund, it’s designated to meet emergency needs that arise within our church family and the community.

Micah’s Backpack Program and our ABC Food Pantry are always accepting food donations, check the church website for the needed grocery items.

Friendsgiving

Friendsgiving for kids ages kindergarten-fifth grade will be held in the gym of Bethany Wesleyan Church, 457 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be food, games and fun.

Fall bazaar

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold their fall bazaar on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come to discover craft items, jewelry, a lunch bag raffle, a raffle ticket with gift cards and prizes, a bake sale, white elephant sale, and the kitchen will be open for eat in or take out.

Cookie pickup

A reminder to those who ordered molasses tongue cookies the pickup is this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Holy Trinity. This is the same date as the bazaar.

Lions Club bingo

The Palmerton Lions Club hosts bingo every Friday night at the Palmerton Sokol Hall, 452 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton. Doors open at 4 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. Various packages and games are available. Food is also available for purchase. Call 610-360-5523 for information.

Library Board of Directors

The Palmerton Area Library Board of Directors will meet at the library on Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.

Third Monday Book Club

The Third Monday Book Club will meet at the library on Nov. 15 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The club discusses a different book each month. November’s book is “The Demon Under the Microscope” by Thomas Hager. New members are always welcome. For more information call the library at 610-826-3424.

Palmerton Food Pantry

The CACPAC sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, on Nov. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please note this is one week earlier than usual due to the holiday.

The pantry supports families of the Palmerton Area School District only and you will need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income.

This is a drive-thru event, so please remain in your vehicle and follow instructions given by volunteers. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, paper and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. A box is on the porch for donations. Area churches are also collecting on a regular basis.

Handmade items auction

A Handmade Items Auction to benefit the Palmerton Area Library is ongoing now through Nov. 24. Tickets are available for purchase at the library. Winners will be contacted Nov. 29. For information call the library at 610-826-3424.

Holiday shopping event

A holiday “handcrafter only” shopping event will be held on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Palmerton Sokol Hall, 452 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton. There will also be a tricky tray/auction table. The kitchen will be open.

Jerusalem Lutheran Church

The congregation of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, voted to join into a parish agreement with St. John’s Lutheran Church, Towamensing, for the purpose of hiring a new pastor who will serve both churches in a 50/50 split. The pastoral candidate will be leading worship service at Trachsville on Sunday at 9 a.m.

A congregational meeting and vote will take place after the service for the congregation to decide whether or not the candidate is right for the church.

Members are encouraged to attend this service and meeting.

Kids for the Community

The kids for the Community will be hold a basket raffle during the Christmas in the Park event on Dec. 4. The group will be accepting donations of baskets or certificates starting next week. If anyone can donate a basket please reach out so arrangements can be made for drop off/pickup. Please call Jennifer at 610-393-0705 for information.

Toys for Kids Drive

A Toy Drive Collection Box is located at Family Dollar in Palmerton for the CACPAC sponsored Christmas Toys for Kids Drive. Will be accepting unopened new toys (no stuffed toys or animals). Monetary donations can be mailed to CACPAC c/o Bonnie Green, P.O. Box 213, Aquashicola, PA 18071. For information, call Bonnie at 610-349-0954.

Thanksgiving dinner

A free community Thanksgiving meal will be served at Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton, on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Eat in is 5-7 p.m. Curbside available 6-7 p.m. only. Call 610-826-2201 during this hour to place curbside orders. No deliveries or reservations. No early curbside orders will be taken. All are invited.

Operation Warm-A-Child

Jerusalem UCC, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville is doing a new or gently used coat drive for infant to school-aged children. Donations can be dropped off at the church office during regular office hours. The office is open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 610-681-4412.
