Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners approved or discussed the following items during their meeting last week:
• Approved the reappointment of Cathryn Porambo of Jim Thorpe to a five-year term on the Housing Authority.
• Approved a proposal from Johnson Controls Fire Protection of Allentown to provide annual service to the fire pump system in the pump house at the correctional facility at a total cost of $2,603 annually. The term of the agreement is from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2022.
• Approved a proposal from Johnson Controls Fire Protection for an additional electronic door lock and a new motherboard at the 76 Susquehanna St. building. The cost is $3,186.32 and covers parts, labor and programming.
• Approved an agreement with Kristiana Mistretta of Summit Hill to perform janitorial services at District Judge Casimir Kosciolek’s office in Lansford. Compensation is $250 a month.
• Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein announced that due to Veterans Day falling on Thursday, there will be no commissioners meeting this week. The next meeting will be Nov. 18.
• Commissioner Chris Lukasevich said that through a program Mauch Chunk Lake Park hosts, the park has received funding to order seven memorial benches, which will be installed over the winter or spring months. These benches are sponsored by families who memorialized a loved one who has passed.

• Date of hire correction: John Barile Jr. of Jim Thorpe, maintenance II, buildings and grounds, effective Nov. 15.
• Hires as recommended by department supervisors: Brittany T. Stepp of Palmerton and Coral C. Steigerwalt of Nesquehoning, part-time dispatcher trainees, effective Nov. 8.
