BOWMANSTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL

Bowmanstown Borough Council took the following action on Tuesday:

• On a 5-2 vote, decided not to continue membership in the Carbon County Council of Governments in 2022. Councilman Rob Moyer and Councilwoman Kara Scott were in favor.

• Announced that the Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club was awarded a grant in the amount of $3,500 to refurbish the Veterans Monument. The work is coming in at about $5,300, and council will eventually vote on paying the difference.

• Announced that a budget meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday to finalize the 2022 budget and advertise it for adoption at the Dec. 7 council meeting with no tax increase.

• Agreed to have borough engineer Jessica Rehrig submit the necessary documentation to the Carbon County Office of Planning for the proposed construction project using Community Development Block Grant funding to construct eight ADA ramps throughout the borough.

• Approved the agreement and scheduling of the leaf vacuum from Lehighton Borough at a cost of $4,000, and will be scheduled around Lehighton’s need for the truck.

• Approved a quote for safety lights for the van in the amount of $1,228.

• Agreed to have Rehrig attend a preconstruction conference for the NEPA Bridge Preserve & Repair 6, Contract No. 109334 on Nov. 22, via Microsoft Teams Teleconference.

• Agreed to grant wastewater treatment plant operator Chris Bixler permission to obtain his pesticide certification.
