November 10, 1978 - A second-quarter touchdown by Scott Fenstermacher, along with the extra point from Leo Hastings, allows Northwestern to hold off Palmerton for a 7-6 Centennial League victory. Fenstermacher finishes the contest with 91 yards on 24 carries, which allows him to top 1,000 yards on the season. He reaches the end zone early in the second frame on a 15-yard run. The Bombers reach the red zone following the score, but Charles Koening comes up with two big tackles to end the drive. Palmerton eventually scores in the second half on a Mark Shupp 2-yard run but Northwestern, coached by Gary Williams, stops a two-point conversion attempt.
