One person was injured, while the driver of a second vehicle fled the scene after a two-car crash Monday morning in Mahoning Township.

Township police Chief Audie Mertz said the incident occurred at 8:18 a.m. on Mahoning Mountain Road when two vehicles sideswiped each other.

Mertz said one driver refused treatment, while the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene on foot and had not been apprehended.

He said the investigation remains underway.

Mertz said also assisting at the scene were the Mahoning Valley Fire Department, Lehighton Ambulance, Lehighton Police Department, Franklin Township Police Department, Palmerton Police Department and State Police at Lehighton.
