Hunter rescued in West Penn

Emergency personnel were dispatched for the rescue of a hunter who fell out of a tree Thursday afternoon in West Penn Township.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. to the rear of 505 Cold Spring Road. It was reported the victim was 400 to 500 yards in the woods to the rear of the residence.

West Penn, East Penn and Mahoning Valley fire companies were to dispatched to the scene to assist in the rescue operation.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley and Tamaqua ambulances and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center.

West Penn Police are investigating the incident.
