The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events:

Balloon Tennis on Nov. 5 at 11 a.m.

Speaker Ryan Lohman from Compassionate Care Hospice on Nov. 8 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on Nov. 9 at 10:45 a.m.; Po-Keeno on Nov. 10 at 11 a.m.; Center Closed on Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day; Honor our Veterans on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.

Pool, Cards, Games and Socialization available every day. New members always welcome. For more information or to sign up call the center Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-1 a.m. at 570-669-9930.

Historical society

The Nesquehoning Historical Society has announced the following upcoming events at the museum. The building is located at 157 W. Railroad St., in Nesquehoning.

• Nov. 6: The museum is open to the public free of charge from 9 a.m. until noon.

• Nov. 8: The Historical Society is hosting a presentation by local author and historian Vince Hydro. The presentation will begin at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

• Nov. 11: There will be a membership meeting at which time the winners of the ticket raffle will be announced. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Anyone willing to donate any artifacts or items is asked to bring the items to a meeting or contact any member of the society. Nesquehoning Historical Society has a Facebook page.

Summit Hill Fall cleanup

Summit Hill will host its annual fall cleanup in the borough for residents in the next few weeks.

On Nov. 20, the east side of town along with Knepper’s Trailer Court and East and West White Bear Drive will be picked up.

On Dec. 4, the west side of town along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop Road will be picked up.

Officials remind residents that all items for the pickup should be placed out the night before the pickup.

Items to be picked up include: no more than four tires, tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves.

All items shall have all chemicals removed and doors taken off. Freon must be removed from refrigerators, air conditioners etc. and tagged or they will not take them.

In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.

No electronics such as televisions, computers or computer parts will be picked up during the fall cleanup.
