Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person or in the parking lot by turning to radio station 104.3 FM or Facebook Live. Nov. 7 is Holy Communion and Nov. 28 Advent begins, “The Light of Christmas.”

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise.

Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. is men’s Bible study.

Faith Alive’s Mission for November: The Benevolence Fund is designated to meet emergency needs that arise within our church family and the community.

Micah’s Backpack Program and our ABC Food Pantry are always accepting food donations, check the church website for the needed grocery items.

Historical society

The Palmerton Historical Society will be presenting a photography show, “Views of Carbon County” by Lynn Shupp. The program will take place Nov. 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Knight’s Gallery of the Palmerton Library. Members and guests are invited. Free admission and handicap accessible. Any questions please call 610-824-6954.

Community meal

A free community meal will be held Nov. 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. All are welcome. Call 610-826-2050 for information.

Borough council

The Palmerton Borough Council will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 and 18 in Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be served Sunday from 8-11:30 a.m. at the Parryville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2, 359 Main St., Parryville. Platter choices include pancakes, French toast, eggs any style, SOS, Fire House Mess, western omelet, ham and cheese omelet. Choices of meats are ham, sausage, scrapple, or bacon. Includes home fries, juice, and coffee. They have large and small platters.

Sew What Quilt Guild

The Sew What Quilt Guild will meet at the Palmerton Library on Nov. 12 at 10:30 a.m. for this month only. Next month and forward they will meet on the first Friday at 10:30 a.m. New members are visitors are always welcome.

Handmade items

The Handmade Items Auction to benefit the Palmerton Area Library is ongoing now through Nov. 24. Tickets are available for purchase at the library. Winners will be contacted Nov. 29. Come check out beautiful handmade pieces created by local crafters. For information, call the library at 610-826-3424.

JUCC filling Sale

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, is taking orders for their fall filling sale. This is the same filling that is enjoyed at the Community Festival. Order deadline is Nov. 13. Pick up is either Nov. 20 from noon to 4 p.m. or Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call the church office at 610-681-4412 or Beverly Waibel at 610-377-5811 for cost and to order.

Basket raffle

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville will hold the annual Basket Raffle and Bazaar on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Will have baskets to be raffled, baked goods and holiday items. There will be food to eat in or take out including homemade soup, hot dogs, barbecue, halushki and beverages. The raffle drawing will be at 2 p.m.

Thanksgiving filling sale

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, is taking orders for its Thanksgiving filling sale. This is fresh made, not frozen. Orders are due by Nov. 7 and pick up is on Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For cost and to order call 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403.

Photography Show

A Photography Show by Lynn Shupp will be held Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. in the Knight’s Gallery in the Palmerton Area Library. Zen with Zegley will be providing the soul soothing sounds of singing bowls live. There will be many prints decorating the space of our Beautiful Carbon County.

Friendsgiving

Friendsgiving for kids ages kindergarten-fifth grade will be held in the gym of Bethany Wesleyan Church, 457 Delaware Ave., Palmerton on Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be food, games and lots of fun. Stop by and join in this fun event.

Aquashicola Fire Co.

The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, Little Gap Road is holding its annual Thanksgiving filling sale. Orders are due by Nov. 8. To order, call 610-826-2066 or see a fire company member. The filling will be available for curbside pickup either Tuesday evening Nov. 23 after 7 p.m. or Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
