Two candidates were involved in a tight race for the position of Carbon County treasurer on Tuesday.

Kevin Zelienka (R) tallied 6,979 votes to edge Fran Heaney (D), who received 6,523 votes.

The position is open since longtime treasurer Ron Sheehan is retiring at the end of this year. Results are unofficial and mail-in ballots have not been counted.
