Two students at the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 school along Maple Avenue in Norwegian Township, are facing charges following a disturbance at the school on Oct. 26 in which one attempted to assault staff members.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said troopers responded to the school at 12:06 p.m. for a report of two juveniles causing a disturbance in the cafeteria area of the school.
Troopers determined that one student, a 16-year-old female from Pine Grove, attempted to strike a staff member with a closed fist two times but was unsuccessful. The juvenile was physically restrained and while being restrained she subsequently kicked another staff member. The second juvenile, a 16-year-old male from Pottsville, began to cause a disturbance due to the first incident and kicked an entry door to the school, shattering the glass.
Troopers said charges of simple assault, harassment and related counts are pending. The two staff members involved were identified as two men, a 48-year-old from Ringtown and a 39-year-old from Pottsville.
