Truck hits car, man at transfer station

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said two people were injured in an incident at 3:11 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Penn Forest Township transfer station.

Police said Jenna L. Fiorentino, 37, of Jim Thorpe, and Robert L. Sloss, 26, of Albrightsville, who was identified as a transfer station employee, were unloading garbage from Fiorentino’s 2020 Volkswagen Jetta.

A 2002 Ford F-150 operated by Rolland Rhodomoyer, 78, of Jim Thorpe, traveled behind the truck and failed to stop in time, striking the Jetta and Sloss.

Fiorentino was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by Lehighton Ambulance Association personnel. The extent of her injuries were unknown, police said. The ambulance corps took Sloss to the St. Luke’s Hospital- Lehighton, to be evaluated for suspected minor injuries.

Police said Rhodomoyer was cited for driving an uninspected vehicle.
