State police at Hazleton are investigating a hit-and-run crash in Luzerne County involving area drivers.

Troopers said the crash was reported at 12:34 p.m. on Oct. 18 along Route 309 at the intersection with Arthur Gardner Parkway in Hazle Township.

Crystal L. Forte, 35, of Beaver Meadows, driving a 2013 Nissan, and Rodger A. Faust, 38, of Tamaqua, driving a 2007 GMC Savana, were both northbound. Faust was stopped at a red light with Forte approaching from behind.

Forte then passed Faust in the left turning lane.

Her Nissan then struck Faust’s GMC, causing damage to the front driver side. Troopers said Forte then fled the scene.

No one was injured. The investigation into the crash is continuing, troopers added.
