Variety of Halloween events planned in Lansford area
The Lansford Halloween Festival will be one of the highlights of the spooky season in Lansford featuring plenty of candy, a children’s costume contest, hayrides, music, games and more!
The Halloween festival will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Ashton Park, also referred to as the “pool park” due to its location right next to the Lansford pool.
Children will receive free pizza, popcorn, cotton candy, a drink and chips. There will also be plenty of vendors for the adults to purchase food and drink items.
Multiple movies that will be played throughout the night including “Halloween Town.”
The DJs will be dressing up as the Sanderson sisters out of the movie “Hocus Pocus.”
The “Sanderson Sisters” will provide music and entertainment throughout the night; Delia Zeller as Winifred Sanderson, Kelly Dugan as Sarah Sanderson, and Mayor Michele Bartek as Mary Sanderson, all of Lansford.
Bartek is working with volunteers and sponsors of the event to make it a nice, safe and fun evening for families within the community.
“My belief is that this event will provide a safe and happy way for children of Lansford and the surrounding communities of Summit Hill, Nesquehoning and Coaldale to celebrate the Halloween season,” Bartek said.
She said there have been so many local businesses that helped sponsor the event and support her vision for the festival.
“This is truly all the businesses in the (surrounding) communities coming together to sponsor all of this and it is much appreciated. I can’t say enough about the businesses in the area that come together and constantly help out.”
The Boy Scouts are hosting a haunted walk all throughout the night at the park for all who are interested.
Also featured in the evening will be a contest for businesses and residents who hand out candy and decorate their tables and chairs, and a basket auction to raise money for next year’s festival.
