George Rex, past commander of the Davis-Lawton-Yurko-Breslin American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, received notification the local post has been cited for its outstanding service to children and youth of the community.

The citation, signed by national commander Daniel F. Foley, was issued from the Legion National Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, recognizing the Summit Hill post’s annual report of its child and youth welfare programs.

Rex gave much of the credit for the national award to the officers of Post 316, saying child welfare is one of the Legion’s basic programs. The Legion’s current commander is William Mansberry.
