A Beaver Meadows man allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old family friend who slept over at his house.

Richard Joseph Welsh, 22, was arrested Oct. 14 for the alleged assault, which occurred on Sept. 7.

According to state police, Welsh admitted to removing the victim’s pants and touching her.

The victim told her mother about the incident, and said it occurred when she was sleeping on Welsh’s bed when the incident occurred.

The mother said that Welsh had been viewed as an uncle to the family.

Welsh faces charges of aggravated indecent assault without consent, and corruption of minors - both felonies.

He is currently jailed on $100,000 bail.
