Cunningham, Boyle starring for Moravian U. football team

Two former area athletes have been key contributors to the Moravian University football team this season.

Northwestern graduate Trevor Cunningham, and former Tamaqua standout Nate Boyle have both put up impressive numbers for the Greyhounds.

Cunningham, a senior, has caught 29 passes for a team-leading 517 yards. He has played in five of the team’s seven games and has caught three touchdown passes.

Against Gettysburg on Sept. 11, the Tiger alumnus had 12 receptions for 167 yards and a TD in a 16-13 overtime victory. He also snared six passes for 163 yards in an Oct.2 contest against Juniata. His effort against Gettysburg allowed him to be selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week, the first Moravian player to earn such an honor since 2018.

Boyle, a sophomore, is currently the leading ground gainer for the Hounds. In five games, the Blue Raider alum has run for 366 yards on 80 carries. He has also scored the only two rushing touchdowns by the team, and has also caught nine passes for 56 yards.

Against Dickinson on Oct. 16, Boyle ran 25 times for a career-high 114 yards and a touchdown in a 21-14 win.

Moravian has a 2-5 record and three games left on its schedule, with its next contest this Saturday at McDaniel College.
