Graduation scheduled from specialty court programs

Carbon County will celebrate five residents who have successfully completed specialty treatment court.

Rick Parsons, chief adult probation officer, announced that a graduation will be held for those who completed the intensive programs for Drug and Veterans Treatment courts. The specialty courts aim to keep individuals who were arrested for drug and alcohol related crimes and qualify for the program out of the county jail, while also completing steps to get the help they need to become sober.

The graduation will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday in Carbon County Courthouse courtroom 1.

“We’re excited because we have five individuals who have really done all the hard work, demonstrating their desire to remain sober and change their entire life,” Parsons said.

Carbon County’s Veteran Treatment Court began in 2017 and Drug Court started in 2019.

To date, the two specialty courts have graduated at least eight people.
