Annual Jim Thorpe Halloween Parade is today

The 26th annual Jim Thorpe Halloween Parade will kick off at 2 p.m. today.

The three-division parade, hosted by the Jim Thorpe Lions Club, will begin at the Jim Thorpe Area High School and march down Center Street and turn on Ninth.

It will then continue on North Street. It will end at Third and Center streets.

Route 903 traffic, between Fifth and 10th streets, will be detoured from 1:45 p.m. until the parade passes Fifth Street.

The detour will pass Evergreen and St. Joseph cemeteries.

Buses will then take participants back to Memorial Park for refreshments. Awards for the best float, best group and most original will also be awarded.

This year, the parade Grand Marshal is Shawn Kresge, owner of Shawn Kresge Electric.

The Lions Club has announced the lineup.

Division 1: Pennsylvania State Police; Jim Thorpe Police Department/Community Watch/Mayor; grand marshal; Jim Thorpe Lions Club; Jim Thorpe Fire Department; Immaculate Conception Parish Prep Class; Fran Heaney for County Treasurer; California Raisin vehicle; Leiby’s Carriage Service for Yuengling Brewery; state Rep. Doyle Heffley; Jim Thorpe High school Band and cheerleaders; Carbon County Republican Party.

Division 2: Carbon County Sheriff Tony Harvilla; Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank; Donerds Donuts Food Truck; Hawk Mountain Highlanders; Dimmick Memorial Library; Jean Papay, register of wills; Girl Scout Troop 30903; Lehighton Ambulance; Kevin Zelienka, candidate for County Treasurer; Cub Pack 138; Mason’s Cold Beer; Art Guth; Scooby Doo; Committee to elect Sydney Wernett; and Jukebox Cruisers.

Division 3: Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Company No. 1; Girl Scout Troop 30470; Tyra Boni, clerk of courts; Penn Forest Fire Company “Big Foot”; Fork of the Delaware Tin Lizzies; Olympian Booster Club of Jim Thorpe; Wild Creek Bee Farm; Diehl Paving; Chelsie Bowen; and Santa and elf.

Participants are asked to be at their lineup location at 1 p.m.
