Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m., join us for prayer and praise.

Every Sunday in October at 6 p.m. the Youth Group Impact will meet. It is open to all youth 12 years to 12th grade.

Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. is a men’s Bible study group.

Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. is an adult Bible study.

Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon is church work day.

Donations accepted: Faith Alive’s own food pantry - “ABC Food Pantry.” Helping the needy among our community, and Faith Alive’s ministry - “Micah’s Backpack Program.” Our 10th year helping the Palmerton school children and their families.

Faith Alive’s October Mission - “Operation Christmas Child.” This wonderful cause brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes and the good news of God’s love.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, holds worship each Sunday at 10 a.m. in the church grove (weather permitting). Dress comfortably and bring a lawn chair. Supply pastor Don Quayle will lead the service.

Sunday school for children 6-12 years is alternating weeks of in-person and Zoom learning to better serve everyone.

A members Adult Wine and Cheese Campfire will be held on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m.

The Quilt & Crafts group will meet Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church basement. There is a variety of crafts from quilting to cross stitching to bag making. Stop by and check it out.

JUCC filling sale

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, is taking orders for their fall filling sale. This is the same filling that is enjoyed at the Palmerton Community Festival. May be purchased in 2-pound or 5-pound containers. Order deadline is Nov. 13. Pickup is either Nov. 20 from noon to 4 p.m. or Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is also an order form at Sunday services. Basket raffle and bazaar

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold their annual basket raffle and bazaar on Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Will have baskets to be raffled, baked goods and holiday items. There will be food to eat in or take out including homemade soup, hot dogs, barbecue, halushki and beverages. The raffle drawing will be at 2 p.m.

Living Hope Lighthouse Church

Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton, holds services each Sunday at 10 a.m. The Annual Food Drive benefiting the Palmerton Food Pantry will run now through Nov. 14. This year there’s a little twist. There will be three totes at the back of the sanctuary - one for each of the three sections of pews. Place your donations in the tote corresponding with the section you typically sit in during Sunday service. See which section brings in the most donations. The food pantry is in need of Thanksgiving style foods such as stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and canned vegetables. They also need personal care items.

Trunk or treat

Trunk or treat will be held on Oct. 30 from 5-7 p.m. Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., will provide all the treats. All you have to do is park on Third Street in front of the church and decorate your trunk. Then you can distribute treats to all the kids as they come by to check out your decorations. Prizes will be awarded for the best trunk decorations in various categories. Bring a folding chair.

Train meet

The Carbon Model Railroad Society is sponsoring its Fall Train Meet on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Diamond Fire Co. Bingo Hall, 120 Main St., Walnutport. This is a model railroad, toy train and railroadiania sale for the serious and amateur railroad and model train collector.

Refreshments will be available and plenty of free parking. Admission. Bring your entire family and tell your friends. Masks are optional.

Food pantry

A reminder the CACPAC sponsored food pantry will be held this Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Bowmanstown Fall Festival

The Bowmanstown Families Activities Committee will hold a Fall Festival this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. There will be vendors and crafters of all kinds. Music and Photo Booth will be provided by Phat Kid Productions. There will be a basket raffle from 1-4 p.m. Concessions will be provided by B.A.R.C., Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, Parryville Volunteer Fire Co., Rosie’s Empanadas, and Smokehouse Food Truck. There will be a Chili Cook-off from noon to 2 p.m. Money raised will go back to various Bowmanstown community organizations.

Kids for the Community

Palmerton Kids for the Community will be hosting a stand for the kids to paint pumpkins and be a stop for treats at the Bowmanstown Fall Fest. Volunteer helpers are greatly needed and appreciated to help during the event and to help with the breakdown and cleanup.

Thanksgiving filling sale

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, is taking orders for its Thanksgiving filling sale. This is fresh made, not frozen. May be purchased in 2-pound or 5-pound containers. Orders are due by Nov. 7 and pickup on Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For cost and to order call 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403.

Class of 1985

PAHS Class of 1985 will be holding its 35th Class Reunion (No. 36 due to COVID-19) on Oct. 29 from 7-11 p.m. at Stoney Ridge Park, Fireline Road, Palmerton. All classmates are welcome; graduation with the class is not necessary. No cost to classmates or their guests. BYOB, but sodas and water will be provided. Cemetery cleanup

There will be a cemetery cleanup on Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m. (rain date will be Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m.) at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville. Anyone who would like to help is welcome.

Aquashicola Fire Co. filling sale

The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Department, Little Gap Road, will be holding its annual Thanksgiving filling sale. Each 9-inch container serves four people and can be frozen for up to three months. Orders are due by Nov. 8. To order call 610-826-2066 or see a fire company member. The filling will be available for curbside pickup in either Tuesday evening (preferred) Nov. 23 after 7 p.m. or Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Halloween Party at Sokol Hall

The ninth annual Sokol Hall Halloween Party will be held this Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. The Sokol Hall is located at 452 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton. The event is open to the public. Admission cost includes beer and snacks. BYOB. There will be a costume contest.
