October 20, 1998 - Lehighton’s Chester Wentz captures first place at the Mountain Valley Conference cross country championships held at Lehigh University. Wentz is in third place at the four-K mark but moves ahead in the final stretch to capture the individual title. Wentz completes the 5K course, which was altered due to nearby construction, in a time of 16:28.6 to finish four seconds ahead of Pocono Mountain’s Scott Morgan. Pleasant Valley’s Mike Browne places in the top-15, running a 17:33.0 to take 14th.
