Properties in St. Clair, East Union, Mahanoy and Shenandoah could be demolished soon after commissioners approved a vote to advertise for demolition Wednesday.
Ron Zimmerman, grants manager, said the properties are blighted. A state grant the county received will pay for most of the demolitions, he said. A property at 500-503 E. Hancock St., St. Clair, will be torn down using Community Development Block Grant funds, he said.
Bids are being accepted for the following properties: 500-503 E. Hancock St., St. Clair; 931 Centre St., and 16 W. Cranberry Alley, East Union Township; 7-9 Willow St., Mahanoy Township; and 138 N. White St. and 121 N. West St., Shenandoah.
A pre-bid meeting is 9 a.m. Oct. 21.
Deadline for bids is 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Schuylkill County Controller’s office. Bids will be opened and read aloud in the board room 9 a.m. Oct. 27. Tentative award date is Nov. 3.
